Swedish producer Seba has been making top quality tunes for a number of years, and after a string of releases on Good Looking Records and some house excursions for Svek under the alias of Sunday Brunch, he’s set to release his first EP for 720.

Originating from Ingaro, an island just outside Stockholm, Seba – aka Sebastian Ahrenberg – started producing in the early 90s. Working with a basic home studio, he began by making techno, but soon progressed to the then fledgling drum & bass, after being attracted to a more breakbeat-orientated sound.

His first release was ‘Peanut Planet’, on Swedish label Fluid. Subsequently, Seba collaborated with Lotek on the track ‘Sonic Winds’, which was the first of Seba’s tunes to be released on Good Looking. The duo made another appearance with ‘Universal Music’, which was included on Logical Progression 2. This was followed by a number of singles by Seba as a solo artist – by this time he was rapidly gaining a reputation as a talented producer, creating tunes such as the rich, ethereal ‘Valley Of The Moomins’.
Whilst at Good Looking, Seba produced two tracks for 720 in 1999, when it was still Blame’s subsidiary label – ‘Predator’ / ‘The Lost Key’. Both tunes marked his progression into a slightly harder, more edgy sound – ‘Predator’ was a minimal, eerie soundscape whilst ‘The Lost Key’ utilised technoid bass sounds fused with warm synth layers. Continuing his love of cinematic, supernatural sounds, he produced the track ‘Unrevealed Stories’ in early 2000, a storming tune with an unique and unmissable kick drum pattern which took up long-term residence in Blame’s record box.
‘Unrevealed Stories’ is now set to be released as part of Seba’s first EP for 720, Blame’s remix of which is also on the EP, joining new tracks ‘Vector:_Reload’ and ‘Sneakin’. Having developed a tougher sound, more suited to the 720 ethos, Seba is an artist perfect for the future of the label. Watch this space…
